Day 34 - Alma 16-18

Spiritual Thought:
"May I provide a simple formula by which you can measure the choices which confront you.  It's easy to remember.  'You can't be right by doing wrong; you can't be wrong by doing right."
(--Thomas S. Monson, Pathways to Perfection, Ensign, May 2002, 100)
Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:
Mosiah 17:1 "And now it came to pass that as Alma was journeying from the land of Gideon...behold to his astonishment he met with the sons of Mosiah journing towards the land of Zarahemla. (It had been 14 years since they had left on their missions).
Mosiah 17:2-3 "...Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong....they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God...they had given themselves to much prayer and fasting...and taught with the authority of God."
Mosiah 17:37 "But behold, every man that lifted his club to smite Ammon, he smote off their arms with his sword...that they began to be astonished, and began to flee before him..."

Daily Questions:
If I were to meet my long lost friends, would I be able to have the same experience as Alma and the four sons of Mosiah?  Am I searching the scriptures daily?  Am I praying and fasting with the intensity I should be?  Could miracles happen in my life like they did in Ammon's?

Food for Thought:
In Alma 9:4, Alma prophesied that Ammonihah would be destroyed in one day.  Alma chapter 16 is the fulfillment of that prophesy.  The lesson we learn here is that when God makes a promise through one of his prophets, he will always fulfill it.

NOTE:  Alma has been Chief Judge for 8 years and then he began preaching in Zarahemla for 6 more years.  These are the same 14 years that the 4 sons of Mosiah are doing missionary work among the Lamanites in the Land of Nephi.
