Day 23 - Mosiah 9-12

Spiritual Thought:
Neil A. Maxwell says, "It takes time to prepare for eternity and sin wastes valuable time."

Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:
Mosiah 9:1 - "I Zeniff, ...having been sent as a spy among the Lamanites that I might spy out their forces..."
Mosiah 11:14 - "And it came to pass that he (King Noah) placed his heart upon his riches, and he spent his time in riotous living with his wives and his concubines and so did also his priests spend their time with harlots."
Mosiah 11:20 - "And it came to pass that there was a man among them whose name was Abinadi; and he went forth among them and began to prophesy saying:  ...Wo be unto this people, for I have seen their abominations, and their wickedness, and their whoredoms; and except they repent I will visit them in mine anger.

Daily Questions:
Who am I more like?  Zeniff, who was over-zealous, King Noah who was wicked and idolatrous or Abinadi who was obedient at the cost of his life?  What can I do to become more like Abinadi?

Food for Thought:
When we sin, we give up our agency to Satan and soon find ourselves in bondage just like the Nephites.
The Holy Ghost can not dwell in any unclean thing.  While one cigarette is not enough to give you cancer, it is enough to DRIVE THE SPIRIT AWAY.  The immediate consequence of any SIN is WITHDRAWAL of the SPIRIT!

One young man said, "I find that when I sin, my strength to resist temptation goes way down.  I just can't seem to say no to myself or anything.  Spiritually I feel like the little ‘WEAKLING' in the before pictures in the magazines."  One young woman put it this way:  "When I lose the spirit, I feel completely alone.  Even if I'm surrounded by people completely around me, I feel totally alone."  Abraham Lincoln said, "When I do good, I feel good.  When I do not do good, I do not feel good."

BOMING Picture:  Sent in by 13 years old Nolan Belap.  Nolan reports:  "This is me on Utah's highest place (King's Peak) on Friday, June 29th, 2012.  I read the BOM reading assignment while on King's Peak!"  That is so cool.  What a great example to all of us!
