Day 62 - 3 Nephi 28-30, 4 Nephi

Spiritual Thought:
“And no man – great or small, wise or ignorant, theologian or atheist – no man who lives on the earth in the last days can be saved in the kingdom of heaven unless and until he comes to know, by power of the Holy Ghost, that this holy book is the mind and will and voice of God to the world.  And all who reject its message will be damned…Men will stand or fall – eternally – because of what they think of the Book of Mormon.”  (Elder Bruce R. McConkie, The Millennial Messiah, pg. 147)
Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:
3 Nephi 28:1 - "And it came to pass when Jesus had said these words, he spake unto his disciples, one by one, saying unto them:  What is it that ye desire of me, after that I am gone to the Father?
3 Nephi 28:2 - "And they all spake, save it were three, saying, we desire that after we have lived unto the age of man, that our ministry...may have an end that we may speedily come unto thee in thy kingdom."
3 Nephi 28:3 - "And he said unto them:  Blessed are ye...therefore, after that ye are seventy and two years old ye shall come unto me in my kingdom; and with me ye shall find rest."
3 Nephi 28:8 - Jesus speaking to the 3 Nephites - "And ye shall never endure the pains of death; but when I shall come in my glory ye shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye from mortality to immortality..."
Daily Questions:
What is the age of man? (72).  FYI the age of a tree is 100 years - (see Isaiah 65:20)
Which of the disciples were transfigured, translated, or twinkled?  What's the difference between these three things? (see below)

Food for Thought:
TRANSFIGURED: Transfigured is a more temporary change - A special change in appearance and nature from a lower to a higher, more glorious, exalted, impressive condition so as to stand in the presence of God.    (See Moses 1:;11 D& C 67:11)

TRANSLATED: Translation is of a longer duration, until the Day of Judgment.  They are NOT subject to death, pain or sorrow.  Wild beasts, fire, imprisonment could not hurt the 3 Nephites.  Their purpose is to bring souls to Christ. Translated beings cannot enter into rest until they have undergone a change equivalent to death. --Teachings of Prophet Joseph Smith - pg. 191

They are not in the presence of God, but are of a terrestrial order.  The doctrine of translation is a power which belongs to the priesthood (it is an ordinance.) --Teachings of Prophet Joseph Smith, p.170

"....The Prophet Joseph Smith says that translated beings are "held in reserve to be ministering angels unto many planets."  Many have supposed that the doctrine of translation was a doctrine whereby men were taken immediately into the presence of God, but this is a mistaken idea.  Their place of habitation is that of the terrestrial order, and a place prepared for such characters He held in reserve to be ministering angles unto many planets, and who as yet have not entered into so great a fullness as those who are resurrection from the dead. All translated beings accordingly receive what amounts to an instantaneous death and resurrection."         --Bruce R. McConkie  - Mormon Doctrine 807-808

TWINKLED:
Those who live and die before the millennial era, all in their proper order, will have their bodies and spirits reunited in resurrected immortality.  The righteous who live after the Second Coming shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye, their bodies and spirits being united inseparably."
