Day 56 - 3 Nephi 5-8

Spiritual Thought:

"Now, they did not sin ignorantly, for they knew the will of God concerning them, for it had been taught unto them therefore they did wilfully rebel against God.’ (3 Nephi 6:15-16, 18.) So it is with us today. We, too, are well-taught, but many, too many of us, in the Church and out of the Church, are led away by crafty men whom the Adversary uses as tools, from the standards and the ideals the Lord has set for our happiness and our security. Will history repeat itself? Shall we in this beloved land again lose our freedom because of disobedience? No nation rises above its religion.” (ElRay L. 3 Nephi 5:1 - "And now behold, there was not a living soul among all the people of the Nephites who did doubt in the least the words of all the holy prophets who had spoken; for they knew that it must needs be that they must be fulfilled."
3 Nephi 6:5 - "And now there was nothing in all the land to hinder the people from prospering continually, except they should fall into transgression."
3 Nephi 6:12 - "And the people began to be distinguished by ranks, according to their riches and their chances for learning..."
3 Nephi 6:13 - "Some were lifted up in pride and others were exceedingly humble..."

What would people say about us?  Are lifted up in pride or are we exceedingly humble?

Samuel prophesied The signs of the DEATH of Christ

1. There shall be thunderings and lightnings for the space of many hours, and the earth shall shake and tremble;
2. There shall be great tempests, and there shall be many mountains laid low, like unto a valley, and there shall be many places which are now called valleys which shall become mountains, whose height is great. And many highways shall be broken up, and many cities shall become desolate.
3. And many graves shall be opened, and shall yield up many of their dead; and many saints shall appear unto many.
4. Darkness should cover the face of the whole earth for the space of three days.

3 Nephi 8:8-10 - Zarahemla Did Take Fire, and the city of Moroni Did Sink

            Elder Wilford Woodruff addressed a conference in Logan, Utah, on 22 of August 1863.  Speaking directly to the youth in attendance, he declared:  “Now, my young friends, I wish you to remember these scenes you are witnessing… The day will come, after your fathers, and these prophets and apostles are dead, you will have the privilege of going into the towers of a glorious Temple built unto the name of the Most High…You will say:  that was before New York was destroyed by an earthquake; it was before Boston was swept into the sea, by the sea heaving itself beyond its bounds; it was before Albany was destroyed by fire; yea, at that time you will remember the scenes of this day.  Treasure them up and forget them not.’ President Young followed and said:  ‘What Brother Woodruff has said is revelation and will be fulfilled.”
