Day 37 - Alma 25-27

Spiritual Thought:
"God gave his children their free agency even in the spirit world, by which the individual spirits had the privilege, just as men have here, of choosing the good and rejecting the evil...Because of this, some even there were more faithful than others in keeping the commandments of the Lord. …The spirits of men had their free agency, some were greater than others, and from among them the Father called and foreordained his prophets and rulers…The spirits of men were not equal. They may have had an equal start, and we know they were all innocent in the beginning; but the right of free agency which was given to them enabled some to outstrip others, and thus, through the eons of immortal existence, to become more intelligent, more faithful, for they were free to act for themselves, to think for themselves, to receive the truth or rebel against it. (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 1:58-59);

Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:

Alma 25:9 - "...Thus the words of Abinadi (a prophet) were brought to pass, which he said concerning the seed of the priests who caused that he should suffer death by fire."
Alma 25:10 - "...What ye shall do unto me shall be a type of things to come." (Mosiah 13:10).
Alma 26:11 - "But Ammon said unto him; I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God."
Alma 26:16 - "...for our joy is full...I cannot say the smallest part which I feel."

Daily Questions: 

Do I keep my covenants like the Anti-Nephi Lehies (People of Ammon)?  Many people are willing to die for their religion, but am I willing to LIVE for it?  As I serve the Lord is my joy full or do I need an attitude adjustment?

Food for Thought: 
Once again - God always backs up the words of his prophets!  The Lord gave the Anti-Nephi Lehies a new name (People of Ammon) and a new home (Jershon).  He has promised us the same.  We can take upon us His name and if we keep the commandments, we can inherit the Celestial Kingdom - our Heavenly Home.
