"We want our homes to be blessed with sister scriptorians—whether you are single or married; young or old, widowed or living in a family…As you become more and more familiar with the truths of the scriptures, you will be more and more effective in keeping the second great commandment, to love your neighbor as yourself. Become scholars of the scriptures—not to put others down, but to lift them up.” (Pres. Spencer W. Kimball – Ensign Nov. 1979 p. 102)
Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:
Alma 19:16 - "And it came to pass that they did call on the name of the Lord, in their might, even until they had all fallen to the earth, save it were one of the Lamanitish women, whose name was Abish, she having been converted unto the Lord for many years, on account of a remarkable vision of her father."
Alma 19:17 - "Thus, having been converted to the Lord, and never having made it known, therefore, when she saw that all the servants of Lamoni had fallen to the earth, and also her mistress, the queen, and the kind, and Ammon lay prostrate upon the earth, she knew that it was the power of God...therefore she ran forth from house to house, making it known unto the people."
Daily Questions: Am I like Abish? If I were the only standard works that anyone read, what would they know about God? Are my actions consistent with my beliefs? What can I change to become a stronger woman of faith?

Food for Thought:
"We may never know the impact our example or testimony can have on other people. Sometimes we may even wonder, "Will it really matter if I say something? I am just one person - one voice." Yet each conversion, each testimony, each person's path to God began with the testimony of someone else. That is exactly what happened in the life of the Lamanite servant woman Abish. You and I may not have an experience that involves an entire kingdom as Abish did. Still, there will be times in each of our lives when we will be called upon to act based on what we believe. Such was the case for Abish."
(--July Ensign 2012 - pg. 53)
