Day 31 - Alma 8-10

Spiritual Thought:
"Despite the changes which come into our lives and with gratitude in our hearts, may we fill our days-as much as we can-with those things which matter most. May we cherish those we hold dear and express our love to them in word and in deed."
-Thomas S. Monson, "Finding Joy in the Journey,", Liahona, Nov 2008, 84–87

Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:
Alma 8:15 - "Blessed art thou, Alma; therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice for thou hast great cuse to rejoice; for thou has been faitthful in keeping the commandments of God from the time which thou receivedst thy first message from him.  Behold, I am he (angel) that delivered it unto you.
Alma 10:6 - "Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know; therefore I went on rebelling against God, in the fourth day of this seventh month, which is in the tenth year of the reign of the judges."
Daily Questions:
Am I living my life so that when I receive spiritual promptings from the Lord, I can recognize and act on them?  What can I do to prepare myself to have more of these experiences?  If you had two friends and you asked them both to do something for you, but only one did it each time you asked, which friend would you ask the next time you needed help?  Do I quickly respond when the Holy Ghost asks me to do something for others?

Food for Thought:
When I was living in Prescott, Arizona our Stake President said something different in Stake Conference than I had ever heard. Usually we are asked to pray for a missionary experience  Well that particular day he said for us to try and Pray that the Lord will SEND to Us a person who is ready and wants to hear the gospel. Then for us to promise that we will act upon that experience and follow through and obey what the Holy Ghost instructs us to do.

His counselor then got up and told how a woman came into his Dr's Office and the spirit told him that he was to share the gospel with her. He didn't want to, because he was at work. The feeling was so strong that He decided to tell her that he was a member of the church, etc. She told him she was too, but that she wasn't active.  She then told him that she had been praying for the Lord to help her find someone who could show her the way back to him. Then as she was out in the waiting room the spirit told her that her Dr. would be able to help her. As the time approached for her to leave, she was worried that her Dr. wouldn't help her. So, when Dr. Joe followed thru and obeyed the promptings he had received, then her prayers were answered.  He told her that he would send the missionaries over to her house and he did. Then he called the R.S. President in her ward and told her that she needed a sister to talk to. It's up to us on how much we want to serve the Lord. He will do his part if we will do our part.
A special spiritual experience is waiting right around the corner just for you.  It's up to you to ask the Lord to send it to you. Tell him that you're prepared and willing to do what he wants you to do.
