Day 6 - 1 Nephi 18-19

How are you doing in your reading?  It's Friday - so don't let the weekend and all the tv watching creep up on your reading.  Make sure to plan ahead!

Spiritual Thought:
On the table next to the coat
is the Book of Mormon and the TV remote
One is well used and cherished we note,
not the Book of Mormon, but the TV remote
As pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does it matter; turn on the TV.
So they reach for the source from which they "quote",
No, not the Book of Mormon, but the TV remote.
The Word of God is seldom read;
Maybe a verse here or there before they fall into bed,
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be...
Not from reading the Book of Mormon, but from watching the TV.
So back to the table, next to the coat
goes the Book of Mormon and the TV remote.
The plan of Salvation is full and free;
But is found in the Book of Mormon, not the TV.

Daily Focus Scriptures to mark and ponder:

1 Nephi 18:8  "And I, Nephi, did go into the mount (temple) oft, and I did pray oft unto the Lord; wherefore the Lord showed unto me great things."

1 Nephi 19:23 “And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.”

Daily Questions:
When was the last time I took time to offer a heart felt prayer?  Am I going to the temple often enough or could I do better?  When I read, do I try and apply the scriptures to me personally?
